With more than twenty years of expertise in insurance and risk services, Bill Monat joined Equity Risk Partners in 2010. He leads the firm’s Transactional Products practice group, and is responsible for developing and marketing products such as representations and warranties, tax liability, litigation buyout, and contingent liability insurance.

Mr. Monat has worked extensively as an attorney concentrating on insurance coverage and litigation, including the representation of specialty lines insurers in professional liability, directors’ and officers’ liability, and fidelity cases. In 2006, he co-founded Transaction Risk Solutions, which provides insurance solutions to private equity firms and other parties involved in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other financial transactions, where he served as its Chief Underwriting Officer and President. Prior to this, Mr. Monat spent nine years at Aon as Managing Director of M&A Risk Solutions, where he was responsible for underwriting transactional insurance, and headed claims and legal matters for several Aon underwriting operations. He is also a Certified Public Accountant with experience working for a major international accounting firm.

Mr. Monat holds an undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of Iowa, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Iowa College of Law. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois Bar and the Professional Liability Underwriting Society.
